Benjamin Rush

Benjamin was born in December of 1745 in Byberry, Pennsylvania, he had done a lot of thing like eminent Physician, writer, educator, humanitarian. When he was only six years old his father died and then his mom sent him to his uncle Dr. Finley who had become his teacher and his advisor. In 1776 he went to College of Philadelphia, for his Bachelor of Arts degree. Later on he went across the Atlantic to attend to an M.D. at Edinburgh. He had returned later on in 1769, he had done a private practice and then he had become appointed Professor of Chemistry at the College of Philadelphia.

Benjamin rush was involved in the city and was amongst the poor, His practice was successful and his classes were popular. Later on he had published his first book of chemistry. In 1773 Benjamin was writing about the Patriot cause and then sent it to the papers and joined the American Philosophical Society.”1776 he was elected to attend the provincial conference to send delegates to the Continental Congress. He was appointed to represent Philadelphia that year and so signed the Declaration of Independence.”

In 1777 he was a surgeon-general of the middle department of the Continental Army, where the continental army had made some problems for him. As he went to court and complained to Washington who deferred to the Congress. Washington had suffered a series of defeats. Then later on rush had written an anonymous letter to then Governor Patrick Henry of Virginia. In 1786 he had written a letter to the newspaper to ADOPT the Federal constitution. Then he had been elected to the Pennsylvania convention which adopted that constitution.

After his years he had his teaching career and medical practice continued till the end of his life during this time he also got his dream being the Professor of medical theory and clinical practice. Benjamin Rush was a regular writer, and many notes about the less well known signers of the Declaration come from his observations on the floor of congress. He died at the age of 68 at his home in Philadelphia, the most celebrated physician in America! He lived a greet life and lived his fullest.
